TGIF? Oh yes! 😉 No matter how much we try to push through the weekdays, there’s nothing like the thought of working on Friday when you know it’s almost the weekend you have been waiting for.
Talking about unwinding on weekends, last weekend, Fabindia organized Crafts Bazaar at Phoenix Market City, Bangalore on the occasion of their new store opening at the mall. If you are someone who is wondering what Fabindia offers, well, I’m assuming you are living under a rock 😛 Either that or you aren’t desi enough. Haha
Jokes apart, Fabindia offers some extensive range of handwoven clothes for men, women and home furnishings. If you are someone who loves ethnic wear, you cannot give Fabindia a miss. Nah-uh!
Fabindia Crafts Bazaar was a festival organized to lay focus on Indian crafts and folk artists. It was a great opportunity to see craftsmen at wood block printing, cheriyal mask making, lambani and aari embroidery. Fabindia, apart from their ethnic wear has en extensive range of organic dips that one could try at the stalls.
Lambani is a unique form of mirror and embroidery craft that is done on garments. My only memories of these are the dance performances at school I was part of with those beautiful skirts that have lambani work on it. 😀 I posted a picture of the block printing demo on my Instagram on the day of the event and received soooo many comments asking if they are for sale. It was just a demo shown to understand how block printing works on a fabric using traditional wood blocks. 🙂
Apart from this, there was also a saree draping session as well. Personally, I can’t drape a saree and pleat it well even if I try a zillion times (slight exaggerated, okay?) , I always end up asking Mum to do it for me. Well, considering she draped sarees for almost 25 years, she is quite an expert. 😛
Fabindia also had a fashion show lined up to showcase their new Rajwada collection which I absolutely loved.
It’s quite rare that I come across events where Indian crafts are appreciated and Fabindia is a brand that firmly believes in spreading that message across.
What is a perfect coincidence? Typing this post while I spot a new Fabindia store in HSR Layout 😀
