Dog Friendly Fall Day Trips from Toronto

Fall is my favourite time of the year. Although the end of summer makes me extremely sad, I really do look forward to the crisp fall air, cinnamon scented candles and pumpkin spiced everything. The best part? The fall colours in full swing- making it the best time to take those fall day trips in Ontario. I wrote a blog post about a dog friendly beach in 2022 and it received so much love, so I thought of sharing a fewΒ  dog friendly fall day trips from Toronto that I’ve taken the last few years and some that I would definitely recommend going this Fall.

1. Kelso Conservation Area

This is a beautiful conservation area located near Milton, Ontario. It is the perfect location for a fall hike with your pooch πŸ™ŒπŸ½ The fall colours here while taking the hike is so beautiful! This park has Lake Kelso, which is a man‑made reservoir created to control the flooding of Sixteen Mille Creek in Milton, Ontario.

2. Algonquin Provincial Park

Fall cannot be complete without a trip to the Algonquin Provincial Park. To make it a one day trip, you have to leave early morning but the view is worth it πŸ™ŒπŸ½πŸ˜ The Algonquin Provincial park has rivers and numerous lakes, including the large lake of Two Rivers, that are home to moose, bears and common loons. This hike we did was the Algonquin Track and Tower trail.

3. Downtown Dundas & Dundas Peak

Downtown Dundas is such a cute spot to shop local and also get to see a little bit of Hamilton. The old heritage buildings, the local cafes that make some really good coffee and the attention to detail at every local business downtown. I keep going back here so often.

Downtown Dundas

We also love Dundas Peak during fall and love the view from the hike. Maui had the best time walking in this trail.

4. Niagara Falls + Niagara on the lake

Niagara on the Lake is beautiful to walk around with your dog and the walk to the lake is so pleasant. Niagara Falls on the other hand can get a bit chaotic because of the noise/crowd around so if your dog isn’t used to a lot of people and gets anxious easily, I would not recommend it.

Niagara on the Lake

Our pup, Maui is extremely social and had his first interaction with so many people around at Niagara Falls – so at first he was a bit anxious but slowly eased in and got comfortable with his surroundings. It was so beautiful to see him enjoy watching the falls – he jumped up on the railing to look down at the water and it was the cutest thing ever.

5. Brantwood Farms

There’s definitely a lot more dog friendly fall day trips from Toronto that you can do and I’ll try to do another round up soon with more places. We always post our adventures with Maui on my Instagram so follow us there to see more!
