Hello everyone 🙂
How are you all doing? My weekend has been amazing, meeting up with friends and family. But another week of horror begins tomorrow 😐 Mondays! 🙁
Anyhoo, recently a little birdie told us that one should visit Little Italy for some classic Italian khaana (food) So being a foodie I had to give it a try! So we collaborated with Askme.com , a search engine for all things food, lifestyle, fashion and beauty. You just key in anything that you are searching for and a list of options and suggestions pop up on AskMe 😀 Also, they have a contest for bloggers who do video reviews of the whole review 🙂 So if you are a Youtuber, grab this opportunity to review and win awesome goodies 😀 And lucky bloggers get to meet Rocky and Mayur of “Highway On My Plate” fame 😀
So now a little about Little Italy from their website 🙂
“Italians are one of the few people in the world who are truly passionate about their food. They take a lot of pride in their cooking and love their food fresh from the pan. With a passion for authentic Italian cuisine, we have explored the amazing country of Italy to specially hire chefs and most of our essential ingredients are imported straight from there to give you that perfect Italian flavor.
At Little Italy we are inspired to bring to you an experience of vibrant and “true” Italian cuisine that transcends you to this exotic world of fine dining.
Our Motto
- It is our strong ideology that our customers must always get quality service with a smile, in a clean and pleasant environment.
- We are committed to exceeding our customers’ expectations every time they visit us.
- We are passionate about consistently enhancing and improving the Little Italy brand.
- We aim to seize every opportunity to innovate and lead the industry in order to serve our customers better.
So let’s get down to review what we ordered at Little Italy and how the food rated on our TJD score card 🙂 Also, we need to mention here that Little Italy is a vegetarian restaurant! 😀
We love our 3-course meal too much starting with some starters, main course and desserts. I have heard a lot about Little Italy’s Lunch Buffet but since we were there for dinner we couldn’t order that. So we ordered every course by personal choice 🙂
Starters
We ordered two starters at Little Italy. One was recommended by the Chef which is Spinaci Salsa and another was Funghi Alla Trapanese that we wanted to try.
Spinaci Salsa is a creamy spinach dip served with thin crispy toast. We loved how crisp the toast was and the dip was a bit cheesy, if I may say. Cheese lovers would probably love it. Made a good combination though. On our TJD score card listed below, we would give Spinaci Salsa a Grade B.
Funghi Alla Trapanese is nothing but roasted mushrooms flavoured with garlic, lemon, parsley and drizzled with olive oil( which SCREAMS Italy). This is served with farmer’s bread. We absolutely loved this one. Burst of flavours to be precise! A little citrusy as well. 🙂 The mushroom was tender, juicy and cooked perfectly. On our TJD score card, we would give Funghi Alla Trapanese a Grade A!
After the starters, we wanted to order some pasta but settled down for pizza as it had been long since we had one. So we were going to order a medium pizza but what we loved about ordering the pizza is we could get half of the pizza in one flavour and the other half in a different flavour. Awesome right? 😀 So we ended up ordering a combination of Pizza Toe-Toe and Pizza Rustic.
Pizza Toe-Toe has fresh tomato sauce and toppings of mushroom, capsicum, jalapeno, sun-dried tomatoes, tobasco and loads of mozzarella. When I say “loads” of mozzarella, trust me I’m not exaggerating 😛 We loved this one as the toppings used were our personal favourites 🙂 On our TJD score card, we would give Pizza Toe-Toe a Grade A+
Pizza Rustic, on the other hand, is spicy tomato sauce with toppings of Italian herbs, onions, spinach, garlic and mozzarella. We didn’t like this much as it did not taste that great. Bland and definitely not spicy! We would give Pizza Rustic a Grade B.
And then came our favourite course of the meal – Desserts 🙂
We had Tiramisu which is Italian classic sponge cake soaked in rum and coffee. Tiramisu also has vanilla custard sprinkled with coco powder. It is usually served cold and I liked it here but the quantity of rum+ coffee was not how much is usually required. It was on the lower side so I didn’t get that “Tiramisu” feel to it 😛 We would rate the Tiramisu in Little Italy a Grade B+
The last one on the dessert list is hands-down, the best thing at Little Italy. It’s called Chocolate Bombshell. And what a BOMB it is. ♥ It is baked chocolate cake with vanilla ice-cream.
What’s great about that? The chocolate cake is filled with gooey chocolate inside ♥ I died just looking at it! 😀 I’m sure you did it too just now 😛 Loved this one so much. The cake is super soft and chocolatey thanks to the filling, the vanilla balances out the sweetness of chocolate. We would give Chocolate Bombshell a perfect Grade A+ 🙂
On the whole, we loved visiting Little Italy. The ambience is not on the loud side. It’s very quiet and a restaurant one could visit with family. The way the pizzas are baked in Italian style make it more interesting and fun to visit 🙂
On our TJD score card,
Grade | Meaning |
A+ | Excellent, MUST buy! |
A | Very good, worth a try |
B+ | Good |
B | Satisfactory |
C+ | Go on, take a risk |
F | EPIC fail! Stay away! |
We would rate Little Italy Restaurant a Grade A . I hope you loved what we posted here 🙂 Have you visited Little Italy? And do let us know in the comments below any restaurants that you want us to review. 🙂
We would love to!
Until the next food restaurant review,
Keep munching! 😉
