Long before clean beauty was embraced worldwide, Susanne Langmuir launched Bite Beauty, a collection of lip colours made with food-grade ingredients. Now with aN-hydra, Susanne Langmuir is bringing waterless skincare, an essentials-only skincare company disrupting the multi-step, top shelf culture with a return to simplicity. aN-hydra focuses on reduced water footprint, waste and consumerism by simplifying skincare.
Inspiration behind aN-hydra
When Susanne Langmuir was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, she began to examine the products she was using on a day-to-day basis and discovered that the majority of them featured high percentages of water and preservatives. This sparked the idea for aN-hydra ( anhydrous, which means “without water”) a revolutionary skincare line that’s made with innovative active ingredients.
“I’ve simplified skincare routines with waterless & sustainable formulas that work incredibly well for all skin – in only three luxurious steps. This is skincare re-imagined.”

My experience with aN-hydra skincare
I’ve been using the trio for 2 weeks now and here’s what I love. I use the aN-hydra Microbiome cleanser everyday and when I add some water, it turns into the most luxurious foam with a lovely lavender smell that I can cleanse and exfoliate my face with. It can also be used as an overnight night mask if you need extra oil control. Another fun way to use this microbiome cleanser is as a finishing powder. (Yes, you read that right. Susanne Langmuir suggests this so I’m yet to try it as a finishing powder so I’ll add an update here when I do)
I love a good hyaluronic product because this ingredient is so hydrating. To use the aN-hydra Hyaluronic Hydrator, you shake the bottle to activate and mix the powder and oil. Once you activate it with some water, it turns into a really luxurious serum. There are some incredibly hydrating, universally balancing oils like vegan squalene, jojoba oil, evening primrose and borage in this hydrator. Typically, hyaluronic serums contain upwards of 80% water but by eliminating water in this formula, aN-hydra Hyaluronic Hydrator is a highly concentrated product and you add the water yourself or you use it the way it is.
I’ve used the aN-hydra Powder-C Brightener twice so far and I’ve woken up to glowing skin! I love vitamin C because it helps with so many things – vitamin C helps brighten, improves the texture, tone, evenness of skin and helps with pigmentation. But the challenge with vitamin C is once you add water to it or dilute it, it starts to degrade and break down; this can have an opposite effect on your skin. So for aN-hydra to be able to have a water activated product that contains the highest concentration of vitamin C with 80% is amazing. I can see it work instantly within just 2 uses so I’m going to keep doing more of it to see a visible difference.
I’ve loved using the trio so far and will continue to use it to see more results. This approach to waterless skincare is new to me but definitely something I would like to continue because I’m using products that are more concentrated by eliminating water in it and that is a definite winner for me!
Have you tried waterless skincare? What are your thoughts on it?
